We are looking for an innovative Freelance Surface/Pattern Designer to create original and visually striking patterns for a range of applications, including prints, wallpapers, and carpets. This role combines creative flair with technical expertise, using both traditional and digital methods to produce designs that meet industry standards and exceed client expectations.

This position is in mind for a ten–week contract and will be creating patterns specifically for rugs within a large–scale interiors project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design original patterns for a variety of surfaces, including textiles, wallpapers, and carpets.
• Use both traditional techniques and digital tools to develop high–quality, production–ready designs.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand briefs and translate them into compelling visual outcomes.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, delivering high–quality work within tight deadlines.
• Conduct research to source inspiration and develop on–trend, client–focused design concepts.
• Present ideas clearly and professionally, incorporating feedback to refine and enhance designs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor‘s degree in Textile Design, Graphic Design, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience as a Pattern Designer, with a portfolio showcasing expertise in prints, wallpaper, and carpet design.
• Industry experience across sectors such as hospitality, fashion, film, props, or restaurant interiors is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and CAD design software.
• Strong knowledge of colour theory, layout, and design principles.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistency in visual elements.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Adaptable and responsive to evolving project needs and client feedback
